A annual event that has put Ottawa on the map

For wine and food aficionados in Ottawa, the name Halina Player carries as much weight as the prime minister’s does to politicos. Twenty-two years ago, Ms. Player introduced a city deemed sleepy, unfashionable, and averse to high culture to the wine and food show. It’s now a annual event that has put Ottawa on the map.

In Ontario , on average we purchase wines that cost $10-$12 a bottle. While Kalaboukis said there are good wines in that price range, the wine and food show is an ideal opportunity to sip beyond your price range. You might just find a wine worth the splurge for an upcoming special occasion.

Cheers to France!

Oh, to be marooned with fine French wines. French wines shine at Ottawa Wine & Food Show. As France’s ambassador to Canada, Daniel Jouanneau, points out “French wines need to maintain their distinctiveness”. You can make your own decisions about recent vintages of French wine if you go to this year’s Ottawa Wine & Food Show, this weekend at the Ottawa Congress Centre. The theme country is France, there’ll be more French wines than usual (about 100) and they make for a good representation from all the major French wine regions.
